Chef Zubaida Tariq, better known as Zubaida Aapa is a well-known cooking specialist and a famous celebrity for Zubaida Apa Totkay in Pakistan. She was born in India (Hyderabad Deccan) on April 04, 1945 and after three years of division of India, she migrated to Karachi (Pakistan) with her family. She belonged to a large family, lived in PIB Colony with her 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
In 1953, she lost her father due to extreme sickness and after thirteen years in 1966 Zubaida got married with his cousin named Tariq Hussain. She got marriage at the age of 21; after her marriage she didn't know how to cook even a single food. After some trial of cooking, she cooked food for about 7 people and the entire family members liked her cooked food a lot. Zubaida’s husband was in the “Lever Brothers Company.”
At the age of 50, she started her career and started gaining fame with great success. In 1996, Zubaida’s husband was retired and at that time she appointed in his office in the Dalda Advisory. She started her job with no one's help and took care of all the work herself. After some time they started a telephone service when three peoples joined Zubaida.
She did approximately 90 programs and also wrote a book that was with her own masala variation include Palau, Daal Masala, Bihari Kabab, Tandoori, Sabzi and Nihari. Her cooking tips are really famous every where in Pakistan and with her recipes, cooking and beauty tips she got high fame and success.
The specialist thing in Zubaida is that she can make anything or any kind of food after tasting it only once whether it is Pakistani, Indian, Chinese or any kind of dish. She has an ability to present it with great taste. She believes people really fast, and she is nice to everyone these are her weaknesses.
These days, she is well-known due to her popular cooking show "Handi" in which she shares her culinary knowledge and passion which is aired on Masala TV at 5:00pm.
