Lahori Murgh Cholay-Step By Step Recipe


Pour oil in pan, add chopped onions and fry until they turn golden brown.

Add ginger garlic and ground black pepper and fry for one minute.

Add tomatoes and cook until they are softened and mixed.

Add salt, coriander powder, cumin, turmeric powder and chicken.

Cook chicken unless oil is separated.

Add boiled chickpeas and then 2 glass water. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes at low heat.

Preparing Lahori Murg Cholay


  • Chicken: 1kg
  • White Chickpeas: 1 cup (boiled)
  • Ground Ginger Garlic: 2 tablespoon
  • Salt: as per taste
  • Onions: 2 medium size (thin chopped)
  • Tomatoes: 3 medium size (diced)
  • Ground Black Pepper: 1 tablespoon
  • Ground Coriander: 1 tablespoon
  • White Cumin: 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Ghee: 1/2 cup


For Garnishing:
  • Green Chilies: 3 to 4 (thin chopped)
  • Green Coriander: 1/2 bunch



  1. Heat ghee in a saucepan on medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes and fry onions.
  2. Add ginger garlic, black pepper and fry for one minute. Add tomatoes and cook until they are softened and mixed.
  3. Add salt, coriander, cumin, turmeric and chicken and cook unless oil is separated and visible.
  4. Add chickpeas and two cup water and cook for 10 to 12 minutes at low heat.
Transfer in serving dish and sprinkle green chilies and coriander. Serve with hot naans.



To boil chickpeas, wash them well and add 1/2 teaspoon sweet soda and soak for 2 hours. Wash again and pour 3 to 4 cup clean water and boil well.
