Kachori Recipe in English


Kachori is a form of samosa. It was first prepared by royal chef at crown ceremony of Jahangir in Mughal era.


Ingredients:

  • Maida Flour: 2 cups
  • White Cumin: 1 teaspoon
  • Oil: for frying
  • Split Bengal Gram: 1/2 cup
  • Salt: as required
  • Turmeric: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Crushed Red Chili: 1 teaspoon
  • Oil: 3 tablespoons
  • Water: as required

Method

  • Mix white cumin, oil and salt with maida flour and knead well with the help of water (do not knead too hard).
  • Boil split Bengal gram and grind with hands; mix ground split Bengal gram, salt, turmeric and crushed red chillies in a bowl.
  • Form small balls with kneaded flour, flatten balls, fill with lentil mixture, fold and form balls again. Now flatten these balls again.
  • Prepare balls similarly with all the flour and set aside for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a karahi pan and deep fry these balls on medium heat.
  • As kachori bloats up with golden brown in color, remove from pan. Fry all kachoris similarly.
  • Delicious kachori is ready to serve. Enjoy with green chatni and potato curry.
