1) Prawns(deveined) 18-20 medium
2) Salt to taste
3) Oil 3 tablespoons
4) Coriander seeds 2 teaspoons
5) Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
6) Black peppercorns 8-10
7) Fenugreek seeds 1/4 teaspoon
8) Whole dry red chillies 4
9) Coconut, scraped 1 cup
10) Onions, chopped 2 medium
11) Garlic 5 cloves
12) Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
13) Tamarind pulp 1 1/2 tablespoons
METHOD:
1. Wash the prawns thoroughly under running water.
2. Drain & pat dry.
3. Sprinkle with salt and set aside for 1 hour,preferably in the refrigerator.
4. Grind with coconut, half the onion, garlic, turmeric powder and tamarind pulp to a smooth paste.
5. Heat oil in a pan and fried remaining chopped onions till light brown.
6. Add the masala paste and sauté for two to three minutes.
7. Add two cups of water and bring the mixture to a boil.
8. Add prawns and adjust seasoning.
9. Simmer for 5 minutes.
10. Serve hot.
