Brown Sugar (Shakkar)

Meaning In English

Brown sugar is made by coating crystals of sucrose with molasses. A small percentage of invert sugar may be present. The molasses gives it a delicate flavor and tasty odor. It has a moist texture with large, clear sparkling crystals. Brown sugar contains from 3.5% molasses (light brown sugar) to 6.5% molasses (dark brown sugar). Light and dark are the two most common styles of brown sugar. In general, the lighter the brown sugar, the more delicate the flavor. Very dark or old-fashioned brown sugar has a more intense molasses flavor then others.

Reviews & Comments

Dark colored sugar is a sucrose sugar item with a particular darker shading because of the nearness of molasses. It is either a foul or incompletely refined delicate sugar comprising of sugar precious stones with some leftover molasses substance, or it is created by the expansion of molasses to refined white sugar.

My family has started using brown sugar instead of white sugar because it is healthier than white sugar.
