Canola Oil (Kanola oil)

Meaning In English

Canola was developed through conventional plant breeding from rapeseed, an oilseed plant already used in ancient civilization. The name "canola" was derived from "Canadian oil, low acid" in 1978. Canola oil is basically rapeseed oil with lower erucic acid ( known to pose health hazard) content. This LEAR (for low erucic acid rapeseed) is derived from cross-breeding of multiple lines of Brassica juncea and is considered safe for consumption.
