Ingredients

Black gram/White gram 1⁄2 Kilogram, soaked for 5 to 6 hours
Onion 2 Large, finely chopped
Ginger paste 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
Red chilli 1 Teaspoon, crushed
Black pepper powder 1 Teaspoon
Cumin powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (for cooking)
Onion rings 5 (For garnish)
Fried peanuts / Nimco

How to make KALE CHANE KE KI CHAT (GHUGNI)

Method

Heat the oil. Add onion and saute it when it becomes golden add soaked gram, salt, ginger paste, crushed red chilli add some water to cooking.
Cook it 1 & more hour, when gram becomes tender & dry add cumin powder & black pepper powder and serve it garnish with onion rings / fried peanuts/ Nimko.

To make Kala Chana Chaat recipe, soak dry chickpeas overnight or at least 8-9 hours before it’s ready to cook. Once soaked, drain the water and then add them in a pressure cooker with enough water for 6-7 minutes until they are well cooked. Make sure to only remove the lid of the pressure cooker once it has cooled down. Then, drain the chickpeas from excess water and put in a large bowl. In the bowl add medium finely chopped onions, tomato, raw mango (optional), 2 green chilies, 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, dry mango powder and 2 teaspoon lemon juice or as required. Mix the ingredients well and serve in a smaller bowl with chopped coriander leaves as garnishing. This dish can be served both hot and cold.

Wow it seems a totally new dish to me. I will try this ghugni, Now Ramadan just passed 2 months ago, so I will prepare and serve it to the family with evening tea. I like these kinds of desi foods from Bihari and Pakistani Indian cuisines.
