8 table spoons (tbl sp) cumin seeds (sabat/safaid zeera)
4 tbl sp whole black peppers (sabat kali mirch)
1 tbl sp cinnamon (daar chini)
1tbl sp cloves (laung)
1/2 tbl sp black cardamom (sabat kali/baRi ilaichi)
for garam masala correct ratio of these spices is very important.
How to make Garam Masala Powder
METHOD:
Grind every thing in a very fine powder, if grinder is not strong then break the cinnamon and cardamom in small fragments and then grind.
Leave it in a flat dish for 1/2 hr so heat generated while grinding is released, if you will put it in an air tight jar immediately it will spoil.
Once cooled down put in air tight jar, it will stay good for 3-4 month.
