Kofta Curry

Kofta curry Recipe is spicy gravy dish made with delicious mince meat balls. It is commonly consumed in Pakistan and India. Curry or gravy is prepared with fried onions and tomatoes having spices like red chili, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and whole spice powder. Meat balls recipe are prepared with boneless beef, mutton or chicken which is then minced with gram flour, ginger, red chilies, whole spice, coriander, and green chilies are added separately in the mince. Ingredients
Mutton, boneless 1 kg
Onions 2 nos.
Gram Flour (roasted) 2 1/2 tbsps.
Egg 1 no.
Ginger, finely cut 2″inch piece.
Green chilies, finely cut 6 nos.
Red chili powder 1 tsp.
Salt To Taste.
Oil for frying.

For the curry:
Onions 3 nos.
Garlic 3-5 cloves.
Ginger 1 1/2″ inch piece.
Haldi powder 1 tsp.
Tomatoes, boiled & skinned 1 cup.
Coriander leaves 2 tsps.
Red chili powder 1 tsp.
Garam masala 1 tsp.
Salt to taste
How to make Kofta Curry

METHOD:

For the koftas, mince the meat and mix with all other ingredients.
Remove the mixture and shape into balls.
Deep fry these balls till golden brown and keep aside.
For the curry, fry the onions, garlic and ginger till golden brown.
Add the rest of the curry ingredients with enough water to make a gravy.
Bring to a boil, add the fried koftas and simmer for 45 mins.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
Serve with Roti or Nan

As first part of the recipe, you need to make meatballs:

For making a delicious kofta curry, first you need to chop the meat to make mince. Then mix the minced meat with all recipe ingredients and then make small meatballs with your hands. These balls are then fried. Once balls are fried and turned to golden brown color, place them aside.

This was very very delicious and very easy to make too. I didn`t have fenugreek leaves, so used seeds instead. Great recipe to make meatballs with desi flavour.

I made the kofta using ground beef. I did reduce the oil to ¼ cup but next time I'll even half my oil quantity to 1/8 cup. It's more than enough for our family. I served it with plain steamed rice and I think it's better because it brings out the flavours of the kofta curry. Perfect! Thank you loads for posting.
