1 green Mango
a handful of Mint leaves
1 hot green chili
1/2 small onion
1/3 Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Teaspoon red Chilli powder
How to make KaIri/Green Mango Chati

METHOD:

Prepare it in pestle and mortar or in a grinder which grinds coarsely.

Remove thin peel of mango. cut and put mango, mint leaves and green chili in the pestle and mortar, add salt and red chili powder and crush every thing together.

Add onion later as it will release water so it will be difficult to crush every thing if its added earlier.

Add 1/2 of small size onion, for estimation remember amount of onion should be 1/2 of the green mango, this chatni does not require much onion.

Grind/crush every thing togehter in the pestle and mortar When every thing is crushed its ready.

Its a very tasty mango chatni, and adds to the taste if served with any curry or daal with boiled rice or chapati or any vegetable bhujia.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

The mango should not be yellow and should be fresh, recently picked from the mango tree.

Mango of the trees grown from grafting are not as sour as those grown from mango seed.

green chatni is the evergreen chatni and can be used with all salan and dishes. We have it at home all the times no matter what's the season and what's the food. It is especially useful in Ramadan.
