Ingredients

1 kg white gourd
cups Chana dal
3 tblsps Oil
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
a pinch of Asafoetida
2 tsps Sugar
4 Green chillies) ground
a piece of Ginger' to a paste

How to make Doodhi-ne Chana-ni Dal-nu Shak (White Gourd and Bengal Gram)

METHOD:

Wash, peel and cut the white gourd. Wash the dal.
Boil both together in a pressure cooker with just enough water. Next, heat the oil with mustard seeds and asafoetida in a kadai. Add the cooked white gourd and dal, and mix in sugar, green chillies, ginger, and salt. Keep on the fire for 3 minutes. Remove and serve hot.(The same recipe may be used for green gram and White gourd.)
