Ingredients

7 cups sliced apples
1/3 cup sugar
2 tbs lemon juice
1 cup flour
½ cup rolled oats
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
¼ tsp salt
½ cup butter, cut finely
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 ½ tbs cornstarch
1 tbs sugar
1 frozen pie shell.

How to make Crumble Topped Apple Pie

METHOD:

Preheat oven to 375F.
In a large mixing bowl, stir apple slices, 1/3 cup sugar and lemon juice.
Let apple mixture sit for 10 minutes. .
While it sits, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, salt and butter.
Pulse repeatedly until mixture is finely crumbled.
In another small bowl, stir together nutmeg, cornstarch and remaining 1 tbs of sugar.
Pour this over the apples and stir through..
Pour apple mixture into the pie crust.
Top with a heavy layer of the oat mixture.
Pat it down gently with your hands, making sure to cover the apples completely.
Bake for about an hour, with pie on a baking sheet as it may drip.
