250 gms puffed rice
2 medium potatoes
2 tblsps oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp asafetida
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp red chilli powder
salt to taste
2 green chillies (finely chopped)
2 tsps sugar; juice of one lemon
2 tsps coriander leaves
How to make Bataka Pauva (Potatoes wtih Puffed Rice)
METHOD:
Wash puffed rice in a sieve, half an hour before pre-paring bataka pauaa, and allow the water to drain completely.
Peel, wash and cube the potatoes. Set aside. In a kadai heat the oil, and throw in the mustard seeds. When they begin to crackle add asafoetida and the potatoes. Saute till tender. Then add turmeric, red chilli powder, salt, green chillies, and sugar. Immedia-tely add puffed rice and stir briskly for 5 minutes.
Remove from fire, and add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves. If desired add fresh grated coconut. Serve hot.
