پاپلیٹ مچھلی کو نمک اور لیموں لگا کر تھوڑی دیر رکھیں۔ پھر اسے دھو کر صاف کریں اور فرائی کر کے نکال لیں۔ تیل گرم کریں۔ پھر اس میں میتھی دانہ، کری پتہ، ادرک لہسن کا پیسٹ، نمک، لال مرچ، ہلدی، دھنیا، کالی مرچ، پسا گرم مصالحہ، دہی، املی کا رس اور کٹے ٹماٹر ڈال کر مصالحہ بھون لیں۔ اب لگن کے اندر تلی مچھلی رکھیں۔ اوپر سے بھنا مصالحہ ڈالیں۔ ساتھ ثابت ہری مرچ لگائیں اور فوائل سے کور کر کے ہلکی آنچ پر دم پر چھوڑ دیں۔ تیار ہونے پر فوائل ہٹا کر ہرا دھنیا چھڑکیں۔ تیار ہونے پر گرم گرم سرو کریں۔
