  • Chicken: 1 whole Chicken (cut in pieces)

  • Egg: 1 bOiled

  • Desi Ghee: 30 grams

  • Milk: 300 ml

  • G/Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp

  • Tomato Paste: 1/4 kg

  • Coriander Powder: 1 tbsp

  • Chilli Powder: ½ tbsp

  • All SpIce Powder (Garam Masala): ¼ tbsp

  • Fresh Cream: 75 grams

  • Chaat Masala: ½ tbsp

  • Lemon JuIce: 2 Lemons

  • Ginger (Small Pieces): 15 grams

  • Green Chillies: 2 pcs cut lengthwise

  • Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek): ½ tbsp

  • Makhane (Lotus Seeds): 20-25 pcs (fried in Ghee)

  • Salt: as per taste


Cashew & Fried Onion Paste Ingredients:



  • Kaju (Cashew Nuts): 50 grams

  • Water: ¼ cup

  • Onions: 3 cut into small pieces




How to make Chicken Changezi




  1. Roast all chicken pieces and place aside (we will use them later).

  2. Fry onion pieces in ghee in a deep pan and place aside.

  3. Fry lotus seeds (makhane) in the same pan and keep aside in a separate pan.

  4. Heat ghee in another cooking vessel.

  5. In the ghee pan, add ginger garlic paste, tomato paste, milk, coriander powder, chilli powder, all-spice powder (garam masala).

  6. Cook these ingredients for 10 minutes on medium flame.

  7. Now grind the onions you fried with cashew nuts and 1/4 cup water until it forms a thick paste.

  8. Now add this cashew nut & onion paste to the ghee pan with chaat masala and salt. Cook the mixture for 5 to 7 more minutes.

  9. Add fresh cream, kasuri methi, 1 green chilli, half cut ginger, juice of 2 lemons ans stir well.

  10. Now put roasted chicken pieces to the gravy and leave on stove for 7 to 8 minutes.

  11. Garnish with remaining green chillies, ginger pices, fried lotus seeds and boiled egg.

  12. Delicious chicken changezi is ready to serve.

  13. Enjoy with hot tandoori naan or faramaishi chapati.

I have heard the name of chicken changezi lot of times and seen its recipe today. When we friends visit some restaurant, we viewed changezi in the menu but never ordered it. Now I saw the recipe and aim to make it at home. I can't wait to have its taste.
