Chicken Changezi Recipe

Chicken: 1 whole Chicken (cut in pieces)
Egg: 1 bOiled
Desi Ghee: 30 grams
Milk: 300 ml
G/Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
Tomato Paste: 1/4 kg
Coriander Powder: 1 tbsp
Chilli Powder: ½ tbsp
All SpIce Powder (Garam Masala): ¼ tbsp
Fresh Cream: 75 grams
Chaat Masala: ½ tbsp
Lemon JuIce: 2 Lemons
Ginger (Small Pieces): 15 grams
Green Chillies: 2 pcs cut lengthwise
Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek): ½ tbsp
Makhane (Lotus Seeds): 20-25 pcs (fried in Ghee)
Salt: as per taste

Cashew & Fried Onion Paste Ingredients:


Kaju (Cashew Nuts): 50 grams
Water: ¼ cup
Onions: 3 cut into small pieces



How to make Chicken Changezi



Roast all chicken pieces and place aside (we will use them later).
Fry onion pieces in ghee in a deep pan and place aside.
Fry lotus seeds (makhane) in the same pan and keep aside in a separate pan.
Heat ghee in another cooking vessel.
In the ghee pan, add ginger garlic paste, tomato paste, milk, coriander powder, chilli powder, all-spice powder (garam masala).
Cook these ingredients for 10 minutes on medium flame.
Now grind the onions you fried with cashew nuts and 1/4 cup water until it forms a thick paste.
Now add this cashew nut & onion paste to the ghee pan with chaat masala and salt. Cook the mixture for 5 to 7 more minutes.
Add fresh cream, kasuri methi, 1 green chilli, half cut ginger, juice of 2 lemons ans stir well.
Now put roasted chicken pieces to the gravy and leave on stove for 7 to 8 minutes.
Garnish with remaining green chillies, ginger pieces, fried lotus seeds and boiled egg.
Delicious chicken changezi is ready to serve.
Enjoy with hot tandoori naan or faramaishi chapati.

good option, i love it. perfect for a main course delicious meal. tandoori or taftan roti is great option for meal. I asked my wife about it, she told that so far she didn't happen to make this recipe so it will be nice option to try today in the dinner.

I was wondering that usually we do not hear about this changezi chicken however I came to know that it is an amazing food from Pakistan and India. Here in Toronto, there are many sikhs from Punjab. I often visit a Sardar ji restaurant and eat this chicken changezi.
