3 pints (U.S. 74 cups) Jersey milk
4 oz. sugar
½ teaspoon grated nutmeg
1 oz. almonds, blanched
1 oz pistachio nuts
How to make Creamy Dessert (Basoondi)


Boil milk rapidly in a heavy saucepan, stirring all the time, till reduced to 1 pint (U.S. 2i cups). This takes approximately 1 hour. Add sugar, stir to dissolve and cook for a few more minutes. Re¬move from the heat and allow to cool. Add nut¬meg, stir and pour into a serving dish, scraping cream from sides of the pan. Coarsely grate the nuts and sprinkle on top. Serve chilled.
