2 pints (U.S. 5 cups) Milk
4 oz. desiccated or freshly grated Coconut
3 oz. granulated Sugar
few drops of pink colouring
1 Teaspoon rose Water or
10 Cardamom seeds, crushed

How to make Coconut Milk Toffee (Nariel Barfi)


Bring the milk to the boil in a heavy pan and cook briskly stirring constantly until reduced by half — approximately 30 minutes. Then add the coconut and sugar and continue cooking and stirring until very thick. Add the colouring and flavouring and turn into a shallow; greased tin. Cool and cut into squares.

Note: Preparation time 5 minutes, Cooking time 1 Hour, To serve 4
