1 kg (whole piece Boiled) Meat (Mutton)
2 Onion
1 tsp Black Pepper
4 Green Cardamom
1 tsp Cumin
6 Green Chilies
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1/2 tsp Salt
½ tsp All Spice Powder
2 cups Chicken Stock
4 tbsp Oil
How to make Afghani Shorba


Boil 1 kg of meat with 4 glass of water on low flame for 2 hour.

When meat is tender and water is half, turn the flame off.

Heat 4 tbsp oil in another pan and add 2 onions finely chopped. Fry onion and take it out of pan.

Crush fried onion with 4 green cardamom and 1 tsp cumin.

Add this mixture in pan along with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, and 1/2 tsp salt and fry. Now add in meat and fry well. Add 2 glass of chicken stock and 6 green chilies.

Cook for 1/2 hour. Lastly add 1/2 tsp of all spice powder.

Thank you for this delicious recipe. The citizens of Afghanistan are Afghans. Similarly, it’s Afghan food, Afghan politics, and Afghan culture. The only time to use “Afghani” is in reference to the unit of Afghan currency by that name. Afghans spend Afghanis. It’s not offensive per se, but it’s not correct.
