After seasoning the chicken, it is threaded on the skewer and roasted in clay oven called 'Tandoor'. Oven is heated with coal and sometimes by burning wood which infuses the charcoal flavor to the chicken. Tandoori chicken is always cooked at high temperature as to get it's exact taste.
Following is the tandoori chicken recipe in English.
- Chicken: 500 grams
- Yogurt: 125 grams
- Lemon: 1 no.
- Red Pepper Powder: 1 tbsp
- All Spice Powder: 1 tbsp
- Cumin Powder: 1 tsp
- G/Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
- Salt: as per taste
- Oil: as required
- Mix chicken leg piece, salt, turmeric powder, red pepper powder, cumin powder, yogurt, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, oil
and all-spice powder and mix well until chicken is marinated thoroughly.
- Now place marinated chicken in oven tray, add half cup water and bake until cooked.
- Once chicken is golden brown in color, remove from oven and grill for some minutes to give it a smoky flavor.
- Tandoori chicken is ready to serve. Enjoy hot with condiments.
