For Prawns Batter
Prawns (Shelled & Deveined): 1/2 Kg
Soy Sauce: 1 Tbsp
Ginger and Garlic Paste: 1 Tsp
All-purpose Flour: 1/2 Cup
Corn Flour: 1/2 Cup
Salt: 1/4 Tsp
Baking Powder: 1/4 Tsp
Cold Water: 1 Cup
Oil: For Deep Frying
For Sweet and Sour Sauce
Oil: 1 Tbsp
Garlic Crushed: 1 Tsp
Ginger Crushed: 1 Tsp
Tomato Ketchup: 1 Cup
Chilli Powder: 1/2 Tsp
Sugar: 1 Tbsp
Chicken Stock/ Water: 1 Cup
White Pepper Powder: 1/2 Tsp
Vinegar: 2 Tbsp
Soy Sauce: 1 Tbsp
Corn Flour: 2 Tbsp
Capsicum Cubes: 1/2
Onion Cubes: 1/2
Tomato Quartered: 1
How to make Sweet and Sour Prawns
METHOD:
Clean the deveined prawns and them refrigerated
Heat some oil in a wok on medium temperature
Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Whisk them well to form a batter
Add prawns into this batter and deep fry them till they turn golden brown
For Sweet and Sour Sauce
Heat some oil in a wok/pan and saute garlic and ginger
Add Ketchup, Chilli Powder and sugar. Cook while stirring till it starts sticking to the pan
Now add chicken stock/water, white pepper, Vinegar, Soy Sauce and bring it to a full boil
Mix cornflour with 1/2 cup of water and pour little at a time in the sauce and cook for few minutes till desired consistency
Add capsicum, onion, tomato and cook for few minutes on low heat temperature
Put the fried prawns in the sauce along with vegetables or serve crispy fried prawns on a side
