Soak dry dates in water for half hour and then cut into thin pieces

Chop almonds and pistachios

Heat ghee in karahi pan, add cardamoms and let it crackle

Add almonds, pistachios, dry dates and fry. Also add crushed coconut

Add vermicelli and fry for 2 to 3 minutes

Heat 2 cup water in a saucepan.
Add sugar to hot water and make solution. Add yellow food coloring or saffron too.

Add vermicelli and mix.

When water is dried, place for dam (steam-cook).

See if water is dried fully, stir with spoon, add khoya and broken qalaqand. Place on dam.

Seviyan Zarda is Ready. It's time to enjoy!

Preparing Seviyon Ka Zarda


  • Vermicelli: 1 packet
  • Ghee: 1/2 cup
  • Sugar: 1 cup
  • Green Cardamom: 2 to 3 (grind to powder)
  • Almonds: as required (thin chopped)
  • Pistachio: as required (thin chopped)
  • Crushed Coconut: 2 to 3 tablespoon
  • Saffron or Yellow Food Coloring: 1 pinch
  • Water: 2 cups
  • Khoya/Qalaqand: as you like
  • Dry Dates: 5 to 6 (thin chopped)



Soak dry dates for half to one hour in water. When they are soft, chop into thin pieces, also cut almonds and pistachios into thin pieces.

Heat ghee in karahi pan at medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes, add cardamom and crackle. Now add almonds, pistachios and dry dates and fry to golden brown. Add vermicelli and fry for 2 to 3 minutes. Also add crushed coconuts. Keep stirring spoon otherwise vermicelli will burn. Take out fried vermicelli from pan.

Heat 2 cup water in a saucepan, when water is heated, add sugar and make a solution. When sugar is dissolved, add either yellow food coloring or saffron and then add fried vermicelli. Mix well and cook at fast flame.

When water is dried, lower the flame and place for dam. When water is fully dried, stir vermicelli, add broken khoya or qalaqand and place for dam for 2 more minutes.

Delicious Seweyian Zarda is ready. Transfer in a serving dish. Garnish with pistachios and almonds. Enjoy yourself and serve others as well.
