Malai Kofta Recipe

Malai Koftas recipe is the classical mughlai dish originated from North India in Mughals era. In this recipe, koftas are fried with cheese in thick tomato soup which is then mixed with cream and then boiled. Malai kofta is tastier than ordinary kofta and once tasted, you will love to cook it for another time.

About Recipe

Beef or Chicken Mince: 500 grams
Oil: 1 cup
Onion: 2 chopped
Chopped Onions: 6 tbsp
Fresh Yogurt: 350 grams (for meatballs)
Green Chillies: 4 tbsp
Yogurt: 4 tbsp (for gravy)
Ginger Paste: 4 tbsp
Cream: 2 tbsp
Corn Flour: 2 tbsp
Garlic Paste: 2 tbsp
Red Pepper Powder: 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder: 1 tbsp
Bay Leaves: 1 leaf
Salt: as per taste
Green Coriander: for garnishing
Green Chillies: for garnishing


How to make Malai Kofta



Mix salt, green chillies, corn flour, chopped onions, yogurt and ginger with the mince. Chop the mixture well.
Make small round meatballs.
Heat oil in a pan and fry onions until they turn golden brown.
Remove onions from pan and crumble. Add yogurt, salt, garlic paste, red pepper powder and coriander and cook until water is dried and oil is separated.
Add water and heat on fast flame for 3 more minutes.
Add meatballs to pan and cook for 10 minutes without moving the spoon.
Finally add green coriander and green chillies.
Malai kofta is ready. Serve hot.

Malai Meatballs or Kofta is a very delicious classic mughlai recipe of South Asia. Malai Kofta (Creamy Meatballs in English) is a soft, yummy meat dish which replaces the hot spicy koftas with fine fluffy kofta balls to be eaten with rich creamy gravy. If cooking intrigues you, and you happen to have Malai Koftey somewhere, it's awesome taste and delicacy would definitely force you to cook it yourself. It can be made in different styles with slight variations in the recipe. Stuff it with cheese, or with dry fruits and more options are there.

This is a very awesome kofta dish, whenever it comes to my choice, I suggest to cook these kofta because they are very soft and delicious and give a great taste with chapati and naan. I also like nargisi kofta but it requires a very long process to make.
