Prawn Biryani Step by Step

Put Onions And Oil In The Saucepot.Heat Up Oil Until The Onions Turned Brown.

Add Garlic And Ginger When Onions Take The Color.

Then Add Curry Leaves.

Add Red Chili And Turmeric Powder And Cook For 2 Minutes.

Add Yogurt And Plum And Cook Until Yogurt Water Dries Up.

Now Add Prawns And Cook For 5 Minutes On Fast Flame.

When Oil Comes Up, Mix The Salt.

Then Put One Tea Spoon Panadanas Syrup (Kevra) And Ground Spices Mixture (Garam Masala).

Mixture Of Ingredients For Rice Is Ready. Looks Delicious!

Clean The Rice And Soak In Water For 10 To 15 Minutes.

Mix Water And Salt In A Pot And Boil The Rice.

After Boiling The Rice, Sift Them In A Colander.

Place Prawn Spice Mixture On The Rice And Then Place Cut Lemons On It.

Now Pour The Boiled Rice On The Ingredients Mixture.

Add Yellow Food Coloring.

Now Place The Pot On Griddle On Low Flame.

Mix It Well And Mouth Watering Prawn Biryani Is Ready!

Pakistani Prawn Biryani in Urdu


  1. Peeled Prawns - 0.5 Kg
  2. Basmati Rice - 0.5 Kg
  3. Garlic Paste - 1 table spoon
  4. Ginger Paste - 1 table spoon
  5. Onions (large) - 3 pcs
  6. Red Chili Powder - 2 table spoons (as per taste)
  7. Yogurt - 2 mugs
  8. Ground Spice Mixture (Garam Masala) - 1 table spoon
  9. Lemons - 2 pcs
  10. Plums - 10 to 12 pcs
  11. Salt - 1 table spoon (as per taste)
  12. Turmeric Powder - 1.5 tea spoon
  13. Curry Leaves - A couple of leaves
  14. Oil - Half mug

Preparing Biryani Curry:

  1. Heat up oil in a saucepot, add onions and then fry for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. When onions turn light brown, add garlic and ginger and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add curry leaves and cook for 2 more minutes.
  4. Then add turmeric and red chili powder, mix them and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Put yogurt and plums in the pot and cook.
  6. When water dries up, add prawns and cook on fast flame for 5 minutes.
  7. See if mixture is ready and oil comes up, add salt and remove the pot from stove.
  8. Add one tea spoon panadanas syrup (Kevra) and ground spices mixture (garam masala).
  9. Ingredient Mixture for Prawn Biryani is ready.

Preparing Rice:

  1. Soak the rice in the water before boiling.
  2. Boil water in a pot. When boiled add salt and then rice.
  3. Sift rice in colander.

Preparing Biryani:

  1. First put the prawn spice mixture in the pot and then place fresh cut lemons on the spice mixture.
  2. Then put boiled rice on it.
  3. Add yellow food coloring in one table spoon water and put into the pot.
  4. Place the pot on stove with sealed lid and make the flame fast.
  5. When steam comes out from the sides of lid, place it on griddle on low flame for 15 minutes.
  6. When rice are ready, mix them well.
  7. Yummy prawn biryani is ready to eat!
  8. Enjoy it with salad and riata!
