• 1 kg Beef or Mutton liver
Salt to taste
• 2 tbsp Ginger and Garlic paste
• Red chili powder 1 tsp or to taste
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
• Cumin 1 tsp (toasted, crushed)
Coriander 1 tsp (toasted, crushed)
• Black pepper 1 tsp (toasted, crushed)
• All spIce powder ¼ tsp
• Red chili 1 tsp (crushed)
• Onion 2 finely chopped
• Green chili 4 (thinly slIced)
• Fresh green Coriander 2 tbsp finely chopped
Tomatoes 250 gm finely chopped
• Dry Fenugreek ¼ tsp
Oil ½ cup
Lemon juIce of 1


How to make Tawa Kaleji



1. Cut liver into little cubes.
2. Marinate it in ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, crushed cumin, crushed coriander seed, crushed black pepper, all spice powder, chopped onion, dry fenugreek, crushed chilies, finely chopped tomatoes, lemon juice, oil and salt.
3. Heat a griddle or frying pan and grease it.
4. Put the marinated liver on to the hot pan.
5. Stir fry till the liver is cooked and the spices are well combined.
6. Sprinkle some chopped green chili, sliced ginger and chopped green coriander leaves on top.
7. Now serve hot Tawa Kalaiji with naan, chapatti or paratha.

tawa kalaiji is very delicious food. I often ate it in my lunch time . Sometimes when I was in the mood to eat it, I didn't take lunch to the office and go to eat kalaiji which was available at a nearby stall. It was very tasty. I miss that taste. Same kaleji can't be made at home.

I love the taste of tawah kaleji . When I go to Karachi and visit Saddar market, I am too much allured with the smell of kaleji that is being sold on the streets . I think that eating from streets is not safe however I cannot stop myself and go and eat it.

tawa kalaiji is awesome when you prepare kaleji well before cooking. If you do not manage to remove its smell, it would not make you feel good . The tip for removing odor is by applying salt on it and then wash it . This will help make kaleji taste better than normal.

kaleji sauted on tawa generates a very awesome taste. I love eating it at home. Sometimes I visit Saddar market in Karachi and there I can see vendors frying it but that is unhygienic and I do not recommend eating from there . But I recommend all women to make it at home with clean meat and clean oil and other ingredients.
