Season fish with salt, wash and then store in a strainer to drain water out.


Mix vinegar, salt, crushed red chili, turmeric powder, chaat masala, crushed cumin seeds, crushed coriander, crushed carom seeds, ginger garlic and crushed green chili in a bowl.


Marinate fish with all these spices and mix well.


Mix all purpose flour and corn flour in a bowl.


Add salt, crushed red chili, turmeric powder, crushed coriander, chaat masala and crushed cumin seeds with to purpose and corn flour.


Add water and make a thick paste.


First roll fish pieces in dry all purpose flour.


Then roll those pieces into the mixture paste.


Now heat oil in a frying pan or a karahi and fry fish at medium heat.


Transfer in a serving plate and sprinkle chaat masala.

Lahori Finger Fry Fish is ready to serve.

Method for Making Pakistani Lahori Fried Fish

Ingredients:
  • Finger Fish: 1/2 kg
  • Oil: for frying

For Fish Marinating:

  • Fish: 1/2 kg
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon (as per taste)
  • Crushed Red Pepper: 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Chaat Masala: 2 tablespoons
  • Carom Seeds (crushed): 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds (crushed): 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander Seeds (crushed): 1 tablespoon
  • Vinegar: 3 tablespoons
  • Crushed Green Chili: 2 to 3 pcs

 

Marinating:

Add vinegar, salt, crushed red chili, turmeric powder, chaat masala, carom seeds, crushed cumin and crushed green chili together into a bowl and prepare a paste. Marinate fish in the mixture well and store in refrigerator for half hour.

 

Mixture Ingredients:

  • All Purpose Flour: 1 cup
  • Corn Flour: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon / as per taste
  • Crushed Red Chili: 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Chaat Masala: 1 tablespoon
  • Crushed White Cumin: 1 teaspoon
  • Crushed Coriander: 1 teaspoon
  • Water: as required

Preparation of Mixture:

Mix all purpose flour and corn flour in a bowl and add salt, crushed red chili, turmeric powder, crushed coriander, chaat masala and crushed cumin seeds and make thick mixture with water.

 

For Frying Fish:

Oil: for frying
Marinated Fish
Thick Spice Mixture
Chaat Masala (for sprinkling upon fried fish)
Dry All Purpose Flour: 1/2 cup

 

Method for Frying Fish

  1. First roll fish in dry all-purpose flour and then in the thick paste for spices. Then deep fry in hot oil.
  2. When one side is fully fried, revert fish to fry the other side.
  3. When fried well, remove from pan and sprinkle chaat masala.
  4. Delicious Lahore Fry Fish is ready.
  5. Enjoy with chatni and have fun.

 

NOTE:

  • Fry fish at medium heat.
  • If fried at high heat, it will remain uncooked from inside.
  • While frying, do not revert it again and again. This will break it's spice coating.
