1 cup gram flour (besan)
1 cup Salted Butter
1 cup raw/white Sugar
2½ cups full Cream liquid Milk
1/3 cup Raisins (kishmish)
½ cup crushed Coconut (mota kash kia hua khopra)
½ cup whole/slIced Almonds (sabat ya katay huay badam)
4 green Cardamoms(hari ellaichi)

How to make Besan/Gram Flour Halwa

Put a little butter in a pan on stove and before it melts completely, add the peeled whole/sliced almonds and roast them

slightly and remove from pan.
Don't wait until almonds are completely roasted as the butter will remain hot even when almonds are removed from stove so

they will continue roasting even when off the stove until the butter will cool down.
Cut and add the rest of the butter in the pan and as it melts add green cardamoms and gram flour and reduce the heat of

stove to low-medium, and roast it while keep stirring.
When it seems that gram flour is sticking to the bottom, remove the pan from the stove and keep stirring, as the pan is

still hot flour will continue cooking.
When gram flour is roasted, aroma is released, its color changes slightly, keeping it off the stove add the sugar and

mix, put it on stove and don't wait for the sugar to melt, immediately add the liquid milk, mix and remove the flour sticking

to the edges of the pan with the help of a spatula so that it doesn't burn there.
Keep stirring the halwa, when the milk is cooked, very quickly gram flour will become thick and get the shape of halwa,

at that stage add the roasted almonds, raisins and the coconut. its preferred if slightly coarsely crushed coconut is used.
It comes out to be very tasty

IMPORTANT NOTES:

This is a traditional recipe of gram flour halwa, some people have reservations about amount of the butter used, although

its amount can be altered as per desire and health concerns, but then the recipe will not turn out as good as it should be.
